Her first album a self-titled effort under the moniker Jessie James arrived in August 2009. Jessie James achieved a reasonable degree of success and had Wanted making it to the Top 40 charts. But while Decker had always considered herself a country artist the album was produced and marketed to a broader audience minds. Decker had to work hard to get control over her music put out after her earlier singles were not so popular. The second album of Decker's was revealed with the title Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury had it shelved and three of Decker's country singles performed poorly. Her album was eventually released.
